I have always loved the creepy, fantastical, other worldy, whimsical, gorgeous, perverse Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. The Garden of Earthly Delights is in the Museo Del Prado and the last time I was in Madrid, gosh, ten years ago now, I was with my family including my Dad (who wrote about our trip to Spain, in part, here) and we went to Room 056 of the Prado to gaze in wonder on this work of art.
I also happen to love puzzles and not too long ago while my sister Laura was yardsailing, she found a mother lode of puzzles including this one:
NB: 5000 pieces!
I recently assisted my friend Paola in Costa Rica on a puzzle of Edvard Munch’s The Scream:
(You may be detecting a number of themes here regarding my aesthetics and my general psychological state) 🙂
When I told Paola about the Bosch puzzle, she texted: “ This will be long gone by the time you finish that ”
I hope she’s right.
I’ll keep you posted on our progress.
And speaking of my father, he had this to say to his Princeton students:
It’s raining or snowing or raining or snowing or sleeting today, so Martha’s Garden of Earthly Delights is on pause, but stay tuned.
